From Charlotte to Hong Kong...

We had the most amazing week. My best friend flew half-way around the world and joined us for Thanksgiving. What more could I ask for?? We took Hong Kong by storm and I think Amanda left exhausted (as am I!)

We took tons of pictures, saw all of Hong Kong's finest, had the most delicious Thanksgiving dinner, and even survived a 24 hour bug. Yes, Amanda was sick and in bed all day on Saturday the 28th. She was a trooper and popped up ready to roll on Sunday morning. I'm so excited to tell you all about her visit and take you through our days...here we go!

Michael and I met her at the airport on Saturday November 21. I was so excited and had butterflies in my stomach. I couldn't believe we were going to be standing on the same soil so far away from home. Amanda arrived at 8:30 pm and we took her home only for enough time to shower...it was then out to Lan Kwai Fong for a night on the town. What better way to beat jet-lag than to party until the wee hours! I hadn't exactly planned for a crazy night out, but some of the best things aren't planned.

We had a great night and darted home at 2:30 am to watch the Carolina game. We all fell asleep before catching the victory against Boston College.

We were up Sunday morning and off to brunch at one of our favorite spots along the escalator. We wandered around Soho taking in the sights, marveling at the wet markets, popping into Michael's office building, and drinking lots of free vitamin water.

We decided to venture into Stanley for the afternoon. Stanley is right on the water and one of my favorite spots in Hong Kong. We did some shopping in the market, watched the sunset over the water, and stopped for a late afternoon Bloody Mary.

Amanda loved reading up on the places she was visiting...so here's a little background for you too. Stanley was once a fishing village, but now it's known for its markets and great souvenirs. It's on the south side of Hong Kong Island and has a popular beach, museum, and a trendy waterside street of bars and restaurants. Will I take you when you come? OF COURSE!

After Stanley it was time to head back to the Mid-Levels and grab drinks and tapas at Bacar. We had to take some shots on the escalator and elevator before calling it a night though.

It was a great first day...See you tomorrow!
xx,
Lauren
